Stop and listen. What can you hear? Kerro mikä resonoi.
Help us record and collect the sounds of your neighbourhood!

Kerro mikä resonoi – Urban Sound Shelves is a participatory open-source archive of the sounds of the city. Through the use of common sound-recording tools, the project encourages a conscious practice of sensing the urban space. Urban soundscapes are the layers of sounds that populate a specific urban area. By paying attention to them, we can understand how cultural and architectural structures along with political power shape our lives and the places we inhabit.
Kerro mikä resonoi – Urban Sound Shelves appears in the form of four site installations in Kanneltalo, Malmitalo and Maunulatalo Cultural Centres, and in Väre, Otaniemi. You can access our playlists on Soundcloud, and through the QR codes!
By listening we can notice many things: who else is living close to us? How far is nature from me? How do people travel? What has been produced here? Am I comfortable here, am I safe? Are others struggling? How do we connect to the rest of the city?

How to participate:
- Make short (30 sec - 2 min) audio recordings, with your phone or other devices.
- Send them to resonaatio@gmail.com.
- Specify the LOCATION of the recording and, if you want, the type of sound recorded.
- The recordings will be anonymous.
Pause, listen, and send us your local soundscape!
